PSYCHOTHERAPY

I utilize research and empirically based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in a knowledgeable and healthful manner.   My training and experience focus on understanding the interaction of the whole body with the emotional self.

I frequently consult with medical doctors from pediatricians to neurologists to coordinate care.  My education and background allow for an appreciation of the medical (neuropsychological) component to psychological functioning.

Your well-being is my ultimate concern. Since 1998, I have provided psychotherapeutic services to children, adolescents, and adults.

PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL EVALUATION

Thumbprint of Potential

The Psychoeducational Evaluation seeks to clearly document a person's cognitive, emotional and academic strengths and weaknesses.  The intent is to provide diagnostic information as well as to offer multiple routes of intervention from the psychological to medical.

This evaluation will allow for diagnostic clarity for conditions such as Dyslexia (reading disorder), ADHD, Dyscalculia (mathematics disorder), as well as take into account the contributions of emotional distress to cognitive dysfunction.  Students returning to school after concussion have also found this evaluation beneficial.

NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION

Road Map of the Brain

The neuropsychological evaluation is very helpful in discriminating psychiatric from neurological difficulties.  For example, differentiating depression and mild cognitive impairment is a frequent referral question.  The evaluation is also beneficial in differentiating the underlying difficulties of a variety of syndromes.  In some cases the neuropsychological evaluation is necessary to identify and document the impact of autoimmune conditions (or other medical conditions) on cognitive and emotional functioning.

FORENSIC EVALUATION & CONSULTATION

Objective & Defensible

The forensic neuropsychological assessment or consultation is intended to provide objective, reliable and defensible documentation of a person's cognitive and emotional functioning.  It is ideal for legal matters such as disability status, personal injury, criminal matters or competency.
